Well this last week I got in all of my new tools for my new craft I am wanting to get into!

Here are some of them.....

Metal Stamping is one of those crafts that takes practice!! I got a great suggestion to go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy some Roofing Flashing to practice on!!

So I have done a few little trials .. many errors lol

Here are a few of my trials ....

Not perfect but its a start :) I have ordered some blanks and have some sheets of metal to cut and work on! The possibilities are endless!

I hope you enjoy a look into my next division of my business - and I plan to share some awesome projects with all of you as i learn more!!

WOW Can you believe we are saying goodbye to 2010??

This year just FLEW past!

I had a Fabulous year in business! I would have to say this was my best year yet! I also met or reconnected with some friends that changed my life! I feel as if i am a better person just for knowing you - and I am sure you know who you are :)

We had some ups and downs but I truly believe that when a door closes there is another one that opens - even though sometimes you have to look for it!!

So Most of the Year I spent doing Booths out at Ft Carson Mini Mall and doing very well! I Love all of my customers that come out to see me when I am there! I love that some of you just stop by to say Hello and update me on your lives!

In July I ended up setting up at an indoor market - That was a huge change for me - But a good change :) I moved from having 2 tables to a small strangely shaped room - in which i incorporated my Massage Practice back in! Then I moved into a bigger room and was set up quite nicely!

My Massage Practice grew by leaps and bounds - mostly thanks to the Radio Shopping Show! I met some amazing people and formed some amazing friendships!

Well unfortunately on Dec 4th the indoor shop at the Market came to an end and we had to close up. I am Thankful to everyone that helped make my shop successful at the market and those that helped me when I had to pack all of it up!

Thankfully I was scheduled to be set up at the Ft Carson Mini Mall for the 2 weeks prior to Christmas!! My Amazing Customers did not let me down and kept me quite busy the whole 2 weeks!! I even had some amazing customers that came from Monument and navigated getting on post just to come see me!

Looking forward to 2011:

Well I expect 2011 is going to blow 2010 out of the water! To start the year off my Husband comes home from Afghanistan! so that makes it better period!

BUT I am also doing so many more things the "Right" way! I ordered Quickbooks to keep my accounting on point (Every year tax time is a nightmare because I am bad at keeping records organized) I have also purchased a Book called 52 weeks of Blogging your passion! I have already started reading it (which inspired me to write this last blog of 2010) AND I have written my mission statement!

Let me start by saying that I have decided to add some new divisions to my business! I recently purchased all of the tools needed to do Metal Stamping! I will be making things from Pendants and dangle charms to little tags for products to .. well whatever I can imagine! I may even look into Clay and stamping pendants in clay or who knows what! The Responsibilities are endless!!

In addition I am seeking a location for a new brick and mortar shop as well! I am hoping we can find a new location soon as I am anxious to get started!! The plan is to share the space with an amazing woman that makes amazing products!!

So .. with that in mind here is my Mission statement for 2011:

Debs Gift Boutique/Charms~N~Things is a Blog about finding your creative gremlin within you and bringing him or her out to play. I want to Inspire you to show off your own personal style or add some pizazz to your creations! I want you to be the best YOU you can be!! And Have fun doing it!

Wow things have been going famously with the new Charms~N~Things Website!

We just placed another large order of charms and accessories to be added to the website over the next few weeks!!

To include a few of the new items being added are Charm Watches! Here are a few Pictures (these are not necessarily the Specific Watches that will be on the site as I asked my supplier to substitute any watches I ordered that wewre out of stock with ones instock!)

So Hubby and I went out to lunch last week - it was a cold and snowy day so soup sounded perfect! And what better place to get soup than Olive Garden??

So as many of you know we did a Haunted House at The American Legion on Friday Night .. here are a few pictures we took .. it was hard to get *great* shots due to the fog and how dark it was but hopefully you will enjoy :)

So the challenge today was altering photos in a picture type program ..

And here is my Altered one: I first increased the back-light to -200%, then i used an antique filter and the sepia setting.. i think it looks pretty dern cool :)

This is my first time playing with filters and such so this was pretty fun :)

New venture .. Custom Italian Charms!

As many of you know I have been working on a few new ventures! One is a website to sell my charms direct as well as offer affiliate sites! Well that is still in the works so keep your eyes peeled for an upcoming blog once it is complete!

The other project/ venture is that I am going to be making Custom Italian Charms! With Custom Charms you can choose any picture you want and we will re-size it and print it and put it on a charm! You can get an Entire Bracelet with custom pictures or you can order a few to add to a bracelet you have started or you can get a starter and choose some already on my site!

An amazing weekend .. and a Giveaway!

So my husband and I had the opportunity to attend a Marriage Retreat that was sponsored by The Colorado National Guard. If you or your spouse is in the National Guard I would suggest you check to see if they have Marriage Retreats in your area! This is the organization that put this one on Strong Bonds So check your state and see if they have one going on!

And remember - your marriage does NOT have to be in trouble to go to a Marriage Retreat! It is for enrichment of your marriage! And the tools you take away can be used in MANY aspects of your life!

So during this Marriage Retreat we were treated to a stay at the Vail Marriott Mountain Resort & Spa .. we were also lucky enough to have been put on orders so we were reimbursed travel and per Diem!

The program was amazing and was put on by this amazing Chaplin that was actually a Navy Chaplin and he is moving to the Colorado Army National Guard! The Retreat was based on the Book 12 hours to a great Marriage!

I was even able to get an extra copy of the book .. And I am going to give one away!

The timing was perfect for us as we were going on vacation the night we got home and we were going to be talking to my Husbands family about possibly moving from CO to ID and the techniques we learned helped reduce the stress immensely! This was a fun challenge! I wish I had looked b4 leaving Idaho as they have some great train stations and could have had some fun pics .. BUT that said I was in Breckenridge and here are a few of the fun pics I took while wandering around enjoying our visit! Did you know that one shade or color can weigh a different amount than another? This is why we offer the same amount of product in each of our jars regardless of color or weight.

For instance, our Shimmy weighs more than our Coal for the same volume of product. 1 tsp of Coal is 2.4 grams, but 1 tsp of Shimmy is 3.1 grams.

So, rather than list our products by weight, we fill by volume each time so you are guaranteed to get the best deal!

All of our 10 gram jars are filled with 1 tsp by volume which ranges between 1 and 3 grams by weight.

This was our latest trip to Vail.. Aug 28 - 30th .. we took the Gondola up the mountain again and got some new great shots!

And this is a pic of the Snake River canyon in Twin Falls, ID I took yesterday while here on vacation! If you look close you can see a f course down there.. Hubby went golfing there on Friday He said it is a gorgeous course!!

This weeks Challenge was a difficult one.. I was going to try and go out and create the perfect picture but my week went insane! So I thought pictures from a recent trip to Vail would suffice .. It is more of an interpretation on some of them .. but isnt that what the freedom of photography is all about? This was a trip June 6 - 28 2009 in Vail, CO Just a few hours from the house.. we are going back Aug 28 - 30 I can't wait!

This one depicts a few of the elements .. It was raining, obviously earth form the mountains, the wind was quite strong (you cant realy tell from the pic but those clouds were movin!)

This one isnt "exactly" fire but that sunset looked like all of the colors in a fire and I just loved this pic!

This was taken high in the mountains and this is my 5th element.. Love, Happiness, Contentment and just plain Fun!

Well i fell in love like instantly! Deb was actually selling them as stash not as a full necklace but i spoke to her and explained my lack of creativity and she designed this gorgeous one of a kind necklace for me! My weekend in Vail

So many of you know I went to Vail a few weeks ago .. it was technically for an FRG Conference but we had some free time to just enjoy as well!

The weekend started off with the gorgeous drive up through the mountains, we took the route that was a lil longer in order to drive through Breckenridge and enjoy the scenery a lil more, we had storms on and off all the way up there:

Overall it was still a gorgeous drive though!

We got there Friday afternoon and checked in and then met downstairs in one of the salons for a Pizza dinner/ meet & Greet session. I saw a few people I already knew and then met some new people as well! Will and I made it an early evening and headed back to the room about 9 to relax since we had a long weekend ahead!

Saturday Morning we had a huge breakfast spread with Vats of coffee (yes I mean Vats! we had a few hundred people) eggs, bacon, english muffins, toast, breads etc etc

We had some more meet and greet time and talked about a lot of different things from the Unit and FRG issues to life in General..

Next was the Motivational Speaker of the day.. And i thought man i hope this doesn't get boring .. well i can tell you quite the contrary!! here is their website and a snippet video!

They were very humorous!! I laughed so hard I cried through most of the event! BUT they had great info as well!

After that we had a Command panel - which is where people were allowed to ask the big wigs questions without consequence (so they say lol)

Next was Lunch - we had a huge sandwich spread - very good!!

After Lunch we had several classes that were very informative! (I wont bore you all with the details lol)

We also did a Team Building Exercise that was a blast! I wish I had gotten pics of it but was in the middle of it and unable to .. if I find some I will post them :)

After That we were free to do whatever we wanted for the rest of the night! First we went out to dinner:

After Dinner we all went our separate ways to enjoy evenings with our spouses! This is what Will & I did: They had Free Gondola rides so we walked to the little village area where they were and rode one up! The view was gorgeous!!

Once at the top the views were amazing!

I loved this photo opp .. it was as perfect as a post card!!

Next we headed back down and were being quite silly taking pics of ourselves lol

After that we went back to the hotel, had a few cocktails and off to bed for another busy day!

Sunday was Breakfast again (same spread) and then another Motivational Speaker.. I looked at the schedule and said OMG its from 8:30 - 10:00 this is really going to put me to sleep! But WOW what a great speaker! he was amazing and kept you so interested that the time just FLEW by!!

His Name is DJ and he is amazing! http://www.nativediscovery.com/ he was funny, he was informative, he was interesting! I mean WOW!

I was bummed I didnt have any cash on me at the time to get his book and have it signed!

I know I will be purchasing this book my next trip to the bookstore though!

The rest of the day was more informative classes as well as a great Lunch!

Sweet Orange & Apricot Kernel soap

Recently I had the honor of being asked by Jean of Jean May Originals to test some soap she had made, needless to say i was very excited!

The item was Sweet Orange & Apricot Kernel soap! Jean was Leary that the kernels may be too rough and wanted a 2nd opinion (after trying it herself of course!)

Well I received the soap and was anxious to open it .. Sweet Orange is one of my Favorite candles from Mia Bella so I was excited to see how the fragrance compared.. and OH MY! Did it ever compare! It smelled deliciously fresh!!

I was so excited to try the soap that i ran and put the soap in the shower so I would not forget next shower! Now as many of you know i live in CO .. we have VERY low humidity and therefore we generally have pretty dry skin! This is definitely my case!

So starting out I was very impressed with the consistency and the feel of the soap .. the kernels were just a tad rough but hey isn't that what happens when you are exfoliating? Well the one lil "trick" I learned was that anytime the kernels seemed a bit too rough I would simply work on my feet for about 20 seconds and poof they were back to being perfect on the rest of the body!!

If you have very sensative skin you may want to choose one of Jeans other soaps, but if you have dry skin I am telling you this is perfect! OR if you like to do your own lil Mini Pedi's it works great!

One thing I LOVED about the soap is that it is a creamy soap BUT it left my face feeling squeaky clean, not dry just CLEAN feeling!! Many times soaps will either dry out my face or moisturize them so much that they kind of feel, not oily but not fresh and clean!

A Little about the process: it's made from Palm, Coconut & Olive Oils and that it's made in small batches using the old-fashioned cold process method and bars are hand cut.

Now on a side note .. I am looking forward to trying her Mudballs and writing a review on those TOO!!

Another Year Older...

So yesterday was my Birthday .. and fathers day .. so we had a nice day to celebrate both!

Will and I started off exchanging gifts in the morning ... I was excited to get a new set of Pink Dog Tags from the "kids" and a pink Filing cabinet! lol

Its funny when we are business women what lil business supplies/tools/furniture can make us so happy!

Next my sweet Hubby made me breakfast - Bacon and eggs and toast - very yummy!

Then we were ogg to get Mani/Pedi's - YES Both of us did! It was a great bonding experience as always .. hubby was a lil reluctant for the Mani but I convinced him it was a good idea :)

After that we noticed a carnival in a nearby parking lot .. not sure if you have these where you live but here in Colorado Springs we seem to have a carnival pop up anywhere that there is room enough to put a few rides and a few food carts! lol Anyway I immediately though "mmm funnel cake!" so we were off to have funnel cake! lol

The rest of the evening was kinda normal stuff.. went to Sam's Club to get some things we needed and then home to have some spaghetti .. then finished the night off watching a series we had somehow missed the first go round, Dead Like me, was a good show and its on instant watch for Netflix woohoo! lol

Anyway it was a nice day spent with the man I love and my Mom :) Great times!

I recently was perusing some of the shops in a Networking Group I am in (Sassy Sisters in Sales) and came across the cutest dang purse I have EVER seen! It is called a Bug bag or Cicada Bug Bag!

Description: This dainty little bag is made from beautiful pink satin overlaid with a beautiful rayon print that is covered in pink roses. The drawstring is a white satiny cording. Measuring 8 1/2 inches x 4 inches, it's a perfect size for a small wallet, car keys, a cell phone and maybe one or two other small necessities.

The best story behind the bags I could find is this....

The Cicada, which emerges from the earth once every 17 years is the symbol for long life and metamorphosis and resurrection.

In Japan the geisha had a small bag that they carried the plectra(picks) for their samisen. They tucked these little bags into their obi. As is the way in Japan, this became an art form.

Chance needs your help

Chance was dropped off at my gate of the fence and driveway, My nephew (14 yrs old) found him last night and brought him to me to help him. I need help with this poor baby, I will be creating a chip in button for him today and will post it on the front page. This baby is very emacited, and I can count his ribs and see his hip bones. He is approx 9-12 weeks old, probably came from a back yard breeder, Dumped in a mall parking lot to fend for himself. He was alittle puney last night with dry heaves, as I am sure drinking water and not having any for God know how long or many days, was alot for him, He is still not interested in food right now. Sleeping in a crate in my living area so I can watch and observe him. Please say a prayers for himm light a candle and donate anything if you can. All is appreicated and will enable me to meet all his medical needs right now. I will be calling the Vet today to get an appoinment for him. Please help me give this baby another Chance at life and know that humans can be loving and kind. God Bless You in advance, More pics to follow

White Teas: This is the least processed tea you can get. It is very rare and very healthy. It has polyphenols like green tea, but may contain it in greater proportions. It is produced almost entirely in Fukien Province in China, and the tea buds are harvested at dawn on only two days of the year. It contains more buds than leaves and is rapidly steamed and dried leaving the leaves very “fresh”.

Green Teas: Very little to no processing makes this tea one of the healthiest. It contains polyphenols that contain more antioxidant activity than Vitamins C and E. New studies show that it may help prevent rheumatoid arthritis and/or lessen the pain in those already suffering from it. It may aid in cancer prevention and contains EGCG which is a natural obstructer of TNF (a gene deviancy that encourages the growth of cancer cells).

Black Teas: This is a fully oxidized tea that comes flavored, blended and non-blended. Studies show it may help relax and expand arteries which increases blood flow to the heart. It contains antioxidants similar to those found in fruits and vegetables. It contains fluoride which fights bacteria that causes gum disease and tooth decay.

Oolong Teas: This is a semi-oxidized tea. It’s health benefits are those similar to the black and green tea depending on how long the tea is oxidized. Oolong tea contains vitamins C, A, B, and D. Drinking Oolong with meals may aid in the digestion of food and is particularly useful for those with weak or cold digestion. It has diuretic effects and works to stimulate the removal of waste material from the body. Oolong tea may also be a powerful remedy for eczema when drinking 4 to 5 cups of oolong tea day along with your skin care treatement. Oolong contains Polyphenols and helps to remove free radicals which helps to delay the appearance of aging, such as dark spots and wrinkles. This tea can help with lowering blood pressure, reducing heart disease, and help prevent tooth decay. Oolong tea may also improve glucose utilization and insulin regulation. This can be an effective addition to a type-2 diabetes treatment program. (Bodybuilding.com—Hosoda K. Wang MF, Liao ML, Chuang CK, Iha M, Clevidence B, Yamamoto S, Antihyperglycemic effect of oolong tea in type 2 diabetes. Diabetes Care, 2003 Jun; 26 (6): 1714-8).

Rooibos Tea: This is a fairly new tea that is from South Africa and means “red plant”. New studies show that it may delay the aging process. It appears to reduce the toxic compounds of free radicals which produces aging. It helps to relieve stomach ailments such as ulcers, nausea, constipation, colic and heartburn. It contains magnesium, which is healthy for the nervous system, calcium, alpha hydroxyl, zinc, potassium, and copper minerals. It also has been shown to help control the appetite to aid in weight loss and also contains antioxidants that help aid in cancer prevention. Rooibos tea is also naturally caffeine-free. It has been shown to help with skin conditions such as eczema and acne when applied to the skin.

Update on Organizing..

Thank you all for your wonderful suggestions! I have started making a little headway!
Over the weekend i purchased several bookcases and shelving units in order to start my venture!

The 2 book cases are now in the office and are displaying my inventory! it looks great, in fact Hubby says i cant do craft shows or Kiosks because he doesn't want to see me tear it all down and have to put it back up lol! The other shelving units were placed in the closet along with a HUGE filing cabinet(about 6ft X 4 ft) that used to be out in the office! I am storing extra inventory on the shelving and literature and stuff for my home parties in the filing cabinet! I am starting to feel so organized! lol

My office definitely looks much bigger now! i still have to figure a few things out as I do not have any of my melts displayed and those are always huge sellers and i am all about maximizing the sale this year!

I know I am no where close to being organized as of yet but it was a HUGE step in the right direction :)

In addition I have started working on doing home parties this year! I have 2 scheduled and working on scheduling a few others! I have already had 1 online party and that went great!

If you are local in the Springs and want to have a party please get with me and we will get you scheduled! Depending on what party you would like to do you could get kinds of great stuff!

Trying to get organized... Contest included

Ok so one thing I am NOT is organized lol .. I think I need a personal assistant that is just a mini me! Someone who thinks like me and knows what i want without telling them - impossible I know but we all have pipe dreams!

So I have been trying to figure out what I can do to help me in the grand scheme of things. I have subscribed to a few different newsletters designed to help me get organized.. but alas i see them and mark them important and find it hard to find time to go back and read them - and thus do not get anymore organized than I was at the end of last year when I decided I needed to overcome this in 2009!

I think one of my biggest problems is that I have several different business' that I am excited about! As most of you know I have my Massage Therapy practice which I run out of my home and have done so for several years. I used to be good about getting all of my client info put into a file on my computer so that it was easily accessible, well as things got busier and I started to add opportunities to my plate I found myself slacking in this area :( I have an associate that has offered to help me get all of my client files updated and all of the e-mail addresses added into my address book online I just have not provided her with everything to do so! I really need to complete this task as i used to mail out a newsletter every month and decided for multiple reasons that going to an online newsletter made so much more sense! the main reason being cost - when my list grew to over 100 just the postage alone was almost $50 - then you figure in paper, envelopes, printer ink and my time well that was an expense I needed to reduce! Unfortunately since deciding this I have not sent out a newsletter - and this goes back almost 6 months now - i know pick up your jaw it is a disgrace to think about - i just missed my greatest opportunity to bump my business (ie: Holiday season) Now don't get me wrong i have my regulars that come every month but I really need to build things up a little more so that we have money to put back into saving (since we had to deplete our savings when Will's pay got messed up) and then we can do more fun things this coming year - especially if Will is to deploy in Nov/ Dec 2009!

So on to the next problem I seem to have .. well i now rep for several different companies along with one product I buy wholesale and sell. I need to get organized with some sort of system that makes it easy to find all of my literature and samples as well as a way to store all of my inventory in order to sell product to people when I am not at my Kiosk or a craft fair. I have probably missed a few opportunities due to this disorganization - which should be motivation enough but I think I am just overwhelmed :(

I guess i would love some ideas and suggestions to help me - I am sure I "know" what to do but actually doing it seems to be a tough project right now - I am thinking I will have a contest .. I want you all to comment with your suggestions (make them easy not super indepth) you can submit more than one suggestion and I will send surprise gifts to those who provide suggestions that I put into place! And since i sell so many different products you never know what you will get :)

I look forward to hearing your suggestions and implementing some new tasks in my day :)

We are basing the contenders on a points system!
You MUST let us know when you do anything that constitutes points or else you won’t get credit!
5 for a spotlight purchase
3 for promoting group as a whole (max 1x a week)
3 per referred
2 for promoting spotlight (max 1x per week)
1 per day for posting (max points per week 7 for posting each day)

The credits are awarded within the particular week only! And reset when a new spotlight company is chosen!

And remember we only allow 2 consultants per company that are actively advertising their product (Others can sign up under them but the original members are here to advertise and get sales of that product!)

Also membership as a seller is decided by the owners of the group based on the number of sellers of that type of product – we do not want to saturate our group with too many of like items .. I know we have many jewelry companies but for the most part it is all different types and styles at this point!

Also we have decided to allow “Shoppers” If someone is just a shopper but also has a company they sell for but we have reached our max number of consultants then those people will have first shot at becoming a seller when anyone leaves or is removed from the group.

If you leave or are removed and you wish to come back and we have that market filled you can join as a “Shopper” and wait for the opportunity to become a seller again 

Hey Everyone – I was able to get a list of the discontinued items!

The new catalog will be in effect as of January 1, 2009, so I wanted to give you the opportunity to stock up on any of your favorite TEAS or order anything that is going away from the current catalog.

I just want to say that I was a little sad at some of the things that are leaving the catalog, but we found out that internationally prices are soaring up to 30% because of so many factors including shipping internationally and the cost of the ingredients that go into our wonderful teas. I am sure our CEO had to make some tough decisions in what not to include in the new catalog. Some of the items are being discontinued from the company that provides the product to Let's Do Tea for example metal has become very expensive especially in China right now so some of those items are going, and the Ratatouille set is leaving the catalog cuz Disney is not offering it anymore.

Also, the price of tea is going up "world wide" due to the demand for it and it's not likely that there are going to be any new tea estates popping up, so inevitably the price has gone up on that as well. My sponsor and I have been doing some research at tea places all over town and even with the prices going up, ours is still very competitively priced for the amount and quality and uniqueness of our teas. For example: We sell our tins in 3 ounce tins. And if you are out and look at the prices at different stores some of their tins are only 1.9 ounces and selling for the same price as our 3 oz tins. NOTE: This is the first price increase in tea in our catalog in over 2 1/2 years ---so our CEO has really tried to keep our teas priced low & competitive. The last few months in the grocery store has been quite an eye opener with the price of everything going up, so I guess it was time for our prices to go up too.

So if one of your favorite items is leaving the catalog, or you want something that is being discontinued, I just wanted to give you the opportunity to order them now before the end of the year and before the new catalog takes effect.

I am putting in my final order for the year on Wednesday, December 31st!
